School Bond Election Tuesday April 2nd 2024. 260000

Dear Patrons, First of all, thank you so much for your support over the years. With your support and generosity, we have been able to complete many projects that just would not have been possible without the passage of bond initiatives. I’m proud to say that our bond elections have always passed well above the 60% needed for passage. This shows the strong commitment our community has for our school.

Superintendent, JIm Wiggins

No Projected Tax Increase Proposal

The reason this is a “No Projected Tax Increase Proposal” is because, if passed, this 2024 Bond will come on the tax rolls as the 2021 Bond comes off. The board has selected the bond amount of $260,000 with a term of 4 years so that the tax rate will remain the same. I can assure you that these decisions are not taken lightly, and every effort is made by the board to balance the needs of the school with the tax burden of our community. My goal with page 3 of this document is to highlight Yarbrough’s tax rate in relation to all of the other school districts in the Panhandle. It comes in at number 5 when compared to all the schools and the very lowest when compared to each of the 4 adjoining school districts. The average rate of those adjoining districts is 82.76, with Yarbrough’s being 61.77. That is over 20 mills less than the area average.

During my 19 years as superintendent, we have purchased one school bus and that was with the bond passed back in 2011. We still use this bus daily and intend to continue using it for back-up purposes if our Bond 2024 is passed. I believe that we have used our resources wisely, and we have determined that now is the time to look to our community for the financial assistance necessary to insure that our student transportation services are safe and reliable

Safe and Reliable Student Transportation

Once again I appreciate our community’s support over the years. When I say support, of course I mean financially, but I also mean the time volunteered and spent helping us make this place a great place, and believe me when I say... We have a great place here at Yarbrough! It’s great because of those in the past and will continue to be great because of those now and those to come. Thank you for your support, and if you have any bond or school related questions, please do not hesitate to come by and see me.

Sincerely, Mr. Wiggin
